Welcome to the new improved mp3 soundtrack shop for original film, TV & documentary music from film composer Simon Wilkinson (see the main website at: www.thebluemask.com). You can buy CD-quality instant mp3 downloads of my music in this shop, plus a new licensing feature now available called Instant License.

This feature  enables filmmakers to purchase a license along with the music download that allows them to instantly clear and use the tracks in student or commercial films, documentaries, trailers or other projects.

While the shop is mainly aimed at film & TV producers looking for music for their films, documentaries & programmes, it should also appeal to fans of dramatic atmospheric music & film soundtracks. Anyone is welcome to listen to and buy my music.

To get started, just select a category of music from the drop-down list on the right, or if you want to browse all tracks, just select “All tracks“. You can also use the Search box to enter any search terms for the type of music you’re looking for, e.g. epic, dramatic, melancholy, piano etc. Try entering any search terms; whether it’s a specific mood, style or even instrument – have a play around ….

The results will list any tracks that match your search terms and you can then listen to a short preview of each track by clicking the play preview button next to the track title. If you like the track, you can add it to your basket (you can always delete it later if you change your mind).

Each track will have several different purchase options that you can choose from; the most basic option is to buy just the download track for personal listening as a high quality mp3. This is the same as if you bought a track from iTunes or Amazon – there are no Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions on the mp3s so you can put them on your iPod, burn them to CD to play in the car or however you choose to listen to your music. But as with any commercial music, I do ask that you don’t copy or distribute the tracks to friends, upload sites etc.

If you’d like to use any of my music in your film, documentary or other visual project, you will need to purchase a license to cover the synchronisation (or synch) rights. The Instant License feature is now available for both commercial and non-commercial uses so you can buy, license and download the music instantly and start using it in your projects straight away. If you don’t see the type of license you need, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to arrange one that meets your needs.

Many people assume it will be prohibitively expensive to license music for film use, but in most instances (e.g. student films, festivals, low budget productions, websites etc.) the prices I charge are very affordable. Check the licensing section of the site for an idea of prices, or get in touch for a custom quote.

Unlike stock music websites, I don’t have thousands of tracks available (yet!), but I do try to focus on quality rather than quantity. All of my music is composed with a sense of atmosphere, texture and attention to detail that is hopefully apparent and well suited to moving pictures. I put a lot of time and effort into writing, composing and playing these tracks and I get a lot of positive feedback from listeners which is always inspiring, so take a listen to some of the tracks and feel free to  get in touch with any questions or comments.

I also have a range of Royalty-Free music collections aimed at film and documentary makers looking for low cost but high quality music to use in their projects. Once purchased, the music in these collections can be used in films, documentaries and other visual productions without needing to pay any further license fees for using the music.
