Here’s another new time lapse video from Randy Halverson at Dakotalapse which I provided a new custom scored piece of music and sound effects for. The video is called Tempest Milky Way and my track is called, suitably enough, Tempest. This is another stunning piece of astronomy time lapse footage shot in South Dakota from June-August 2011. Some words from Randy about the making of it:

“One of the challenges in making this video, was trying to get good storm and star shots. The opportunity doesn’t come along very often, the storm has to be moving the right speed and the lightning can overexpose the long exposures. I had several opportunities this summer to get storm and star shots. In one instance, within a minute of picking up the camera and dolly, 70mph winds hit. One storm was perfect, it came straight towards the setup, then died right before it reached it.

At the 1:57 mark a Whitetail buck came in to check out the setup. It was caught on 20 frames, and was there for about 10 minutes. It was only 50 yards from the camera, dolly and light.”

Tempest by Simon WilkinsonTempest is a dramatic orchestral piece which moves through rising chord progressions of spiccato strings, horns and double bass to build to an atmospheric climax.

The music is available as an mp3 download from my music store (with or without the wind, thunder & lightning SFX). It can also be licensed instantly at low cost for use in your own videos and trailers.

After my previous music work on Randy Halverson‘s time lapse videos (which featured my licensed music track Scorpio and the custom-written ambient orchestral piece Exodus), here’s another stunning time lapse video from a different filmmaker, this time featuring my track Outpost 31. The filmmaker here is Daniel Lowe of Daniel Dragon Films (www.danieldragonfilms.com) and the film is a beautiful piece called Night Motion Timelapse: Outer Banks.

(As with any Vimeo clips, if you find the playback isn’t very smooth, try pressing play on the video, then pause it straight away until the progress bar is complete and the clip is fully buffered. When it’s done, restart the video and it should play smoothly with no stuttering.)

Full details along with features on the making of the film can be found on Daniel’s Vimeo page.

Outpost 31 by Simon WilkinsonOutpost 31 is a dark and epic atmospheric instrumental track featuring strings, electronica, drum breaks and percussive electronics. The music has an epic, atmospheric, icy winter feel with a sense of impending danger or survival that would work well for geographic, nature or history TV trailers.

The music is available to buy from my mp3 shop, and is also available to license for your own films, Youtube videos, trailers and documentaries  at the following link:

The video has been gathering critical acclaim from a wide range of websites including Wired, National Geographic and The Telegraph, amongst many others. You can read more detailed information on how Randy filmed his work over at his website www.dakotalapse.com.

Following on from using my music for several previous games, 2 more of my orchestral music tracks have been used to help hype up the crowd for basketball giants the L.A. Lakers in their 2010/2011 NBA season playoff games.

I created 2 new mixes of my orchestral action music tracks Bloodstorm (top video) and Aeternus (bottom video) for the Lakers’ pre-game intros at their home stadium the Staples Center. The videos are played before the game on the stadium’s giant video screens to help build up excitement and introduce the team.

The music tracks are also available to download and license for use in your own film, video or trailer from my online music shop here:
